This role requires a proven leader with strong commercial acumen, deep technical understanding, and the ability to manage complex programmes while mentoring and guiding a team of Project Managers. Supported by a PMO for governance and reporting, you will focus on strategic oversight, operational excellence, and client satisfaction.
Digital delivery platforms and data-driven commissioning tools are integral to this role, enabling accurate reporting, real-time project visibility, and seamless transition into ongoing support and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales & Bid Support

Provide senior operational input during tenders for high-value, multi-technology projects.

Review and approve bid documentation, ensuring alignment between technical solutions, delivery capability, and client expectations.

Collaborate with commercial, design, and delivery teams to validate timelines, costings, and resource planning.

Represent the delivery team in client-facing presentations, meetings, and bid interviews.
Pre-Commencement

Define project methodology, ensuring responsibilities are clearly mapped and understood.

Lead mobilisation meetings and align resources across multiple disciplines (AV, IT, Security, BMS, IoT).

Oversee setup of project dashboards, risk registers, and reporting tools to ensure visibility of milestones and deliverables.

Ensure pre-construction deliverables (RAMS, procurement schedules, integrated programmes) are in place and approved.

Manage design development, resolving discrepancies between contract, client requirements, and tender scope.
Project Delivery

Provide strategic leadership for project execution, with accountability for Project Managers under your remit.

Monitor critical activities, implementing mitigation strategies to address risks to time, cost, or quality.

Work with PMO and Operations to ensure effective resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects.

Conduct quality assurance activities and site inspections, driving snag-free delivery.

Oversee project reporting and ensure accurate, timely updates for both internal leadership and clients.

Lead financial reviews, including valuations, invoicing, and forecasting.
Project Completion & Handover

Oversee commissioning, testing, and final sign-off, ensuring compliance with contractual and technical standards.

Ensure accurate, digitised handover documentation including O&M manuals, training materials, and warranties.

Coordinate smooth transition to support and maintenance teams.

Lead lessons-learned reviews and ensure snag resolution post-handover.
Financial Management

Take full ownership of project budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and value engineering.

Analyse performance trends, risks, and opportunities to improve margin and cash flow.

Provide timely and accurate financial reports to senior stakeholders and clients.

Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including budget constraints, supplier changes, and procurement strategies.

Manage change control, ensuring all variations are properly costed, approved, and reflected in forecasts.
Client & Stakeholder Management

Act as the senior escalation point for client matters across your project portfolio.

Build trusted client relationships, ensuring expectations are proactively managed.

Maintain professional and effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.

Gather feedback and lead improvement initiatives to enhance client experience.

Work with supply chain partners to ensure scopes are clear, performance is reviewed, and delivery standards are met.
Health, Safety & Compliance

Champion a strong health and safety culture across all projects.

Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and organisational HSE requirements.

Participate in audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations where necessary.

Drive continuous improvement in site safety, environmental practices, and welfare standards.
About You

Extensive experience leading large, complex, multi-technology projects (£5m+).

Strong technical knowledge across ICT, AV, BMS, IoT, and security systems.

Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders in high-pressure environments.

Excellent leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring Project Managers.

Strong financial and commercial acumen.

Familiarity with digital project delivery and reporting platforms.
